I wasn’t exactly sure if the book I was reading was the same book that I read about in its description, because it was so much more. Our heroine, Rowan, has special supernatural abilities. As a teenager, she thought she was losing her gift, so in desperation she performed an action that accidentally set forth a dark evil into the world. Year later, people have come to her looking for her help in setting things right. And that’s about all I’m going to say about the plot, because you have to read the book. It was basically everything I wanted in a great read: fae, mystery, darkness, romance (of the very hot and steamy variety), relationship struggles, humor, frustration. I couldn’t put the book down, I needed to know what was going to happen, while having thoughts like “damn it, no!”, “please don’t let this really be happening”, and “awwww...”. There were so many surprises; just when you thought your brain could handle it – no! The author throws in a twist that makes you internally (or maybe externally) scream with frustration, because the story is just so good. My feelings about Shatter are much more eloquent when I’m thinking it, but my review is kind of a jumbled mess because my brain is fried in trying to process and re-process this awesome book. A must read book and series!

Had this book for awhile kinda forgot about it. Sure was a mistake on my part! Intense read!!! Devlin and Adam (Druid and Sidhe) powerful warriors. Rowan has an amazing gift. With Ava as a guide what could go wrong. Must read to find out!! Briana Michaels one of my new fav authors!!
What do you get when you put Devlin, Adam, Rowan, Brinley, and Ava into a book ? One scary, to intense for wirds ride that takes you places you've never been via a book before . Briana Michaels has given us a new take on the Druid-Sidhe worlds and I can't wait to see what she cooks up for book 2 !! 4⭐'s for an excellent story, intriguing characters and things that make you go hmm....
I loved this book! Briana Michaels took me to a totally different world in this book. It's the first I have read by Michaels, but I am happy to say it is only the start. I can't wait to dive into the second book.
Devlin and Adam both stole my breath away. How can one book have 2 such gorgeous sexy men.
Then of course there are Rowan, Brinley, and Ava. You have too have sexy women to even out the guys.
This book just shines! I loved it! Last words... Hot, Hot, Hot!!! MUST READ! Second book can't wait!
I am a real fan of fantasy fiction and I love to discover new authors. A friend recommended Shatter and I find that I enjoyed discovering another new voice in the genre. Her character Rowan is one of my favorites. I watched her grow from a somewhat timid young woman into a real powerhouse female! If you like torrid romance, too, this will have your vote! I gave 4 stars because I think I would like to see more character development of some of the secondary characters who do had spice to the mix. All in all, though, a fine first effort! Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
"She will not burn because she is the fire. She is the spark that lights the darkest of nights." I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The character development of the main character, Rowan, was fantastic. She definitely grew into "the fire" as the book progressed. The story is fun. The sex scenes are steamy. The end of the book was so suspenseful and exciting, I almost killed myself reading it in the hallways going to use the restroom at work. Cool book, and a great start to an amazing series.
Michaels is new to me as an author and I'm more than glad I decided to pick up and read Shatter. It was what some of my friends in the South call a real "barn burner". It had more twists in the plot than a pretzel and the surprises continued to appear left, right, and center.

Basically just when you thought you had a handle on what would happen next, everything changed up and went in a different direction. I loved being kept on the edge.

Now I can't wait to pick up "Shine" and start in the next phase of the adventure. I'm certain that we will see more of Adam and Ava, but I'm also hoping to see more of Rowan, Devlin, and Brinley. There has to be more about Ruark as well.

You have never read a story like this before. While I was not completely enthralled, this was a one of a kind story that I found to be very fascinating. I love the connections that all of the characters have to each other and the magical but dark feel to the story. Ro is a strong female lead and carries the story through without being annoyingly whiney and though she has a man at her side she doesn't depend on that but is determined to fight her own battles.
